Race

The three-stage race "Bokami Západných Tatier", or just BOKAMI, is one of the biggest ski mountaineering feasts in Slovakia within the ski mountaineering season. It takes place under the auspices of the Slovak Mountaineering Association JAMES and connects the regions of Liptov and Orava.

BOKAMI is an event that continues the long tradition of ski mountaineering competitions in the area of Western Tatras  dating back to the early 90's. It is the only multi-day and at the same time the most demanding ski mountaineering competition in Central Europe and has gained a reputation and respect in the wider European context.

Since its first year (2008), the race is associated with number three - it is organised by three ski mountaineering and climbing clubs in three valleys and the Competitors complete three stages over three days, during which they complete approximately 60 km and about 6,000 meters of elevation gain.
 
In addition to Slovaks, Czechs and Poles, athletes from various parts of the world e.g. from Canada, Norway, Great Britain, Austria, Germany, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Switzerland and Spain have been part of the race for several years now.
Depending on the conditions, technical sections, ascents on crampons, or ascents with elements of rock climbing are also incorporated in the individual stages. The descents are in difficult free terrain, often in gutters with a slope of more than 40 degrees. Measurement of results is ensured by active chips. The event ends with a large party with dinner. We, the Organizers, want to make BOKAMI race more and more interesting and of better quality - simply always exceptional.

Competitors as well as fans can look forward to several ascents  and descents with a length of about 20 kilometers and an elevation gain of about 2000 to 2700 meters in each of the three stages in the western part of the Western Tatras:
- Spálená dolina in the area of ​​Salatín peak (2048 m above sea level) and Brestová peak (1903 m above sea level),
- Bobrovecká dolina in the area of ​​Babky peak (1566 m above sea level) and Sivý vrch peak (1805 m above sea level) with a view to Chata pod Náružím hut with an unforgettable atmosphere,
- traditionally the “royal” stage takes place in Žiarská dolina in the area of ​​Baníkov peak (2178 m above sea level) and Tri Kopy peak (2136 m above sea level) with a start at the mouth of Žiarská dolina (valley).

Measurement of results is ensured by active chips.

The event ends with a party with dinner. Each Competitor will also receive a starter pack with quality gift from the limited BOKAMI edition.
